fujitsu is back!
for the past 2 months or so, i have been surviving on baby’s Samsung N310 mini netbook.
because my fujitsu of 3 years was on the verge of breaking down in the midst of my fyp report writing.
my dad, a who is a firm believer of the phrase “anything that is repairable, is still usable”, sent the fujitsu to an IT repair shop near granny’s place.
he was very pleased when the repair guy was able to get rid of the virus he accidentally downloaded on his laptop plus installed anti-virus software for just $100.
i, on the other hand, is quite skeptical.
i believe everything has a life-span; if it’s time, it’s time.
my brother’s acer laptop which he bought during his poly days (= ~3-4 years) was sent to the same shop and the guy charged my dad $200.
initially, the laptop was working and the bro was happy that he finally didn’t have to use my lousy desktop on my ultra messy table in my super smelly room.
the next day, it crashed and was sent back for repair.
the same thing happened again and the verdict was: sorry, it’s unrepairable and we will refund you.
pair of the refund was used to repair the fujitsu ($40) but it’s still not fixed entirely.
i wrote down all the errors and spoilage i could think of and gave it to the guy together with the fujitsu; in the end, he only reformatted it and installed a free anti-virus software, spongebob squarepants game, ballance, autorun eater, additional desktop themes, etc etc.
he told my dad it’s fixed, BUT:
- my fan is still spoilt; i can still hear the strange fan turning sounds
- my wi-fi is still spoilt; it can’t connect for nuts!

i should just start saving more for a new desktop/laptop..
and so, fyp is over
the dreaded FYP poster presentation was held last thursday, 21/1, at the SPMS atrium near the MAS office
the night before, i had a chance to ‘rehearse’ with my labmates and got shot down many times by the invincible Rongli ):
that made me even more nervous to the point that i wrote an entire speech until 3am, had a restless night tossing and turning, topping it off with a nightmare which i couldn’t remember what it was about :S
went to lab 1 hour earlier the next day to borrow a formal top from Wenlin (cause i didn’t have any in hall!!) and continued to memorize whatever i could.
then 1130h came.
what i thought would be the longest 3 hours of my life was surprisingly short because of the constant presentation and explanation i had to do.
2/3 of my evaluators were nice too (: as for the last one, i didn’t even know he was one! thought he looked very Chinese and had a strange non-Chinese accent, but it turns out he’s a Japanese.
i guess i was lucky (:
received another email from Prof Yamane that there’d be an interview session with the CBC 491 panel for selected students tmr, 27/1.
until now, i still have not received any ‘invitation’ so i hope that means im not selected *crosses fingers*
good luck to those who are selected!!
now that im ‘free’ for the time being, i have been watching shows like crazy.
movies, dramas, series, variety shows..
seriously need to get my FO and WGM dose from Ben; if not, i’d be super outdated in the kpop world lol
being ‘free’ also means that i have to start spamming companies with my resume, which needs serious polishing 
still not too sure what path i’d take but 船到桥头自然直 right? 
this is random, but im so happy that i managed to swim today (:
haven’t been able to exercise much aka jog/run due to my back injury, which till now i still don’t know what caused it. grrrr.
hope i can swim at least once a week!
those fats really need to disappear!! >.<

2009 has ended.
the year has been great, yet not-so-great at times.
went to Denmark for exchange and made many new and wonderful friends who made the experience so damn awesome.
(although there’s this hypocrite who pretty much screwed up my memories of most places.)
i hope we will meet again in the near future (:
school has been alright because i only had one module on top of FYP.
i admit i’ve been slacking a tad too much due to over-slacking in Denmark for 6 months
thank God i didn’t do too badly for 428
i just pray i can focus on my FYP report which is due in 2 weeks’ time (oh shit).
all my loved ones have been healthy too.
maybe a tad too healthy in my mom’s case lol.
dad’s been controlling his condition well.
the bro has become more of a narcissist thanks to his ever growing muscle from being in ns.
(honestly, i think his assets are bigger than mine.)
love life wise, it has been fruitful too.
albeit the hiccups here and there, im glad i’ve found him (:
2010 will be an eventful year for us!
the sad thing about 2009 was my back ):
until now, im still not certain what caused the pain, but the doc seemed pretty sure that i’d have recovered if there’s no pain in the next couple of weeks.
i really really really hope that’s true, because i really really really need to exercise soon.

time really flies (i don’t think i’ll ever stop saying that!).. it seems like yesterday that i met Martyn for the first time, and that was like, back in july around the time i came back from europe. he’s one of the pair of Southampton students who travelled here to work on their Master theses. brought my precious polaroid to lab yesterday to take some pictures before they leave this sunday. but, the other guy, Wai-hong, didn’t turn up, so, too bad~ guess i’ll have to bring it again to the airport..
no polaroid pics to show here though, only digital ones taken with brendan’s camera..
p.s. just in case anyone’s wondering, martyn’s trying to be the leaning tower of Pisa while brendan’s the um, human perpendicular ruler that shows the leaning

kinda sad yet secretly happy that i couldn’t take part in SCSM this year. sad because it’s a goal i’ve yet to accomplish and have tried my best to train for it, yet my body decided to rebel against me, putting me in a form so far behind that the only sport i can do now is swimming ): secretly happy because i would have gotten a horrible sun burn from the afternoon sun due my lousy running speed lol. my brother is really shen; to think he had only ran his first 2hr run the week before and still managed to clear the whole route by 4.5hr! what has commando done to him??
im praying really hard that i’d recover enough to be able to run again (: and face SCSM 2010 (((:
